Parry Audio Studio & Mobile Recording

PARRY AUDIO Studio is located in the heart of Hamburg-Ottensen. Founded in 1987 by Eberhard Schnellen under the name ES-DUR Tonstudio and taken over in 2014 by long-time employee and recording producer Karola Parry, the recording studio has been operating under the name PARRY AUDIO Studio & Mobile Recording since 2017.
The studio specialises in the production of classical music and voice recordings as well as mastering. PARRY AUDIO's core competence lies in the execution of large orchestral productions and recordings, including opera productions, using its own outside broadcast van or variable mobile technology. The range of services also includes voice and music recordings in its own studio, as well as video and music film productions. Projects are handled by qualified recording producers throughout their entire cycle, from organisational preparations, selection of suitable recording room, competent musical and aesthetic support and high-quality technical recording right through to post production.

Karola Parry

Owner, recording producer (Diplom-Tonmeister)

Karola Parry is a recording producer (Diplom-Tonmeister) and, since 2014, owner of the former ES-DUR recording studio, which has been operating under the name PARRY AUDIO since 2017. She has been supervising CD and radio productions in the fields of chamber music, orchestra, audio books and mastering since 1991 and works as a freelance sound engineer for Deutschlandfunk and DeutschlandfunkKultur, among others.

  • Studied at Berlin, Hochschule der Künste (University of Art), graduate sound engineer
  • since 1990, freelance sound engineer, initially for Radio Bremen, Hessischer Rundfunk and Rias Berlin
  • 1996–1999 Freelance lecturer at SAE Hamburg, broadcast engineer at Schwartzkopff TV, including for the talk show Johannes B. Kerner
  • 2003–2009 Freelance sound engineer for music production at NDR Hamburg, assignments at Rolf Liebermann Studio, Ü-40 and Ü-41
  • 2010–2013 Basic certificate in culture and media management, Hamburg University of Music and Theatre
  • 2011-2014 C2 Hamburg. Music & media production with Udo Potratz with the labels ES-DUR and Charade

Today, Karola Parry has overseen more than 300 CD and radio productions in the area of classical music and more than 100 audio book productions in her roles as a producer, balance engineer and recording engineer.

Juska Burgmann

Juska Burgmann worked as a costume dressmaker at the Theater für Kinder and the Hamburger Kammeroper. 
Since 1999 she has been responsible for organisation, administration and book keeping - first at ES DUR Studio, now at PARRY AUDIO.

Ruth Günther

Ruth Günther worked as a research assistant in the Department of Classical Archaeology at the University of Hamburg from 2000 to 2014.
Since 2015 responsible for administration, organisation, disposition and planning, she also has worked as assistant and technician.

Michael Jaeckel

Michael Jaeckel is a certified sound engineer for audiovisual media. He completed his studies at the HFF Potsdam-Babelsberg. As a sound engineer and recording producer, he has also produced CDs and recordings with artists such as the Staatskapelle Weimar, the RIAS Kammerchor, the Dresden Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir, Ensemble Resonanz and other artists from jazz, rock and pop.
Michael Jaeckel was awarded the Tonmeister Prize from the Association of German Tonmeisters.
Since 2008, Jaeckel is a lecturer at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences for audio engineering and media engineering.

Tim Arnold

Tim Arnold studied at the College of Film and Television in Babelsberg, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts "Sound" (2010-1014) degree. From 2008 to 2024, he worked as a freelance sound engineer at events and on television/film productions. Since 2025, he has been permanently employed by an event company in Eberswalde. He has been working for PARRY AUDIO as a technician and sound engineer since 2014, first planning and executing the conversion of the studio, then in 2015 also the rebuilding of the broadcast van.

Eberhard Schnellen

Eberhard Schnellen started his studies for Music Education at Hochschule für Musik, Cologne and continued at the Berlin Hochschule der Künste (University of Art) finishing with the degree in sound engineering (Diplom-Tonmeister). In 1979 he began working as a sound engineer for pop music at Polygram. In 1987 he founded ES-DUR Tonstudio in Hamburg-Ottensen.

After the transfer of the studio in 2013 he continued to work as a freelance balance engineer for music and word productions. He has been in his well-deserved retirement since 2021.

Rouven Öttjes

Rouven Öttjes works as a technician and sound engineer.  With a long time experience he takes care of recordings and music productions within rock, pop and classical music for the NDR Radio station (amongst others) and for PARRY AUDIO.

Martin Siemßen

Martin Siemßen completed an apprenticeship as a media designer for image and sound after studying musicology, psychology and education,. He has released 11 albums as a guitarist and songwriter with various bands. He has taught early musical education in daycare centers, schools and cultural centers and gives workshops for educators.
For several years he worked for different production companies as EB & film sound man, cameraman and video producer and shot image films. For RTL he worked as a video editor. Since 2005 he has been working as a sound technician for NDR, since 2013 for ES-DUR and for PARRY AUDIO.

Felix Epp

Felix Epp finished his studies at the Tonmeister-Institut of the Berlin University of the Arts as "Diplom-Tonmeister" in 2016. As a freelance recording producer and sound engineer he works on CD and video productions as well as concert recordings in the areas of classical music as well as jazz and popular music, since 2021 also for PARRY AUDIO among others.
