Parry Audio Studio & Mobile Recording

As of the 1st of January 2017, the company operates under the name PARRY AUDIO Studio & Mobile Recording. Founded in 1987 by Eberhard Schnellen as ES-DUR Tonstudio and taken over in 2014 by Karola Parry, long-term employee and qualified sound engineer. PARRY AUDIO is situated in the heart of Hamburg-Ottensen.

The studio specialises in the production of classical music and audio books as well as mastering and remastering. The range of services have been expanded to include video production. Projects are handled by qualified sound engineers throughout their entire cycle, from organisational preparations, selection of suitable recording room, competent musical and aesthetic support and high-quality technical recording right through to post production.


Karola Parry

Owner, qualified sound engineer (Diplom-Tonmeister).

* 1965 in Remscheid, married, 2 children.

Karola Parry completed her degree in sound engineering (Diplom-Tonmeister) at the Berlin Hochschule der Künste (University of Art). After graduating in 1990, she worked as a freelancer for classical music for public radio stations: Radio Bremen, Hessischer Rundfunk and Rias Berlin. Today, she still freelances as a recording producer for nationwide public radio station Deutschlandradio Kultur.

Since 1991 she has worked as a freelance balance engineer and recording producer on CD productions and radio productions in the areas of chamber music, orchestral music, audio books and mastering at ES-DUR.

1996 - 1999 Freelance lecturer at the SAE Hamburg and freelance broadcast audio engineer at Schwartzkopff TV for talkshows

2003 - 2009 Freelance balnce engineer for music productions at NDR Hamburg (North German Public Radio), work at NDR Rolf-Liebermann-Studio, OB-Van 40 and 41

2010 - 2013 Basic certificate in Culture and Media Management from the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre

She co-founded C2 Hamburg Musik & Medienproduktion with the labels ES-DUR and Charade in 2011 together with Udo Potratz. At the end of 2016 she left C2 Hamburg.

Today, Karola Parry has overseen around 200 CD productions in the area of classical music and more than 100 audio book productions in her roles as a producer, balance engineer and recording engineer.


Juska Burgmann

* 1967 in Rendsburg, married, 2 children

Juska Burgmann worked as a costume dressmaker at the Theater für Kinder and the Hamburger Kammeroper. 

Since 1999 she has been responsible for organisation, administration and book keeping - first at ES DUR Studio, now at PARRY AUDIO.


Ruth Günther

*1973 in Hamburg, married, 2 children

Master’s degree in classical archaeology in 1999, research assistant at the University of Hamburg from 2000-2014. 

Since 2015 responsible for administration, organisation, disposition and planning, she also has worked as assistant and technician.


Michael Jaeckel

born in 1977,

is a certified sound engineer for audiovisual media. He completed his studies at the HFF Potsdam-Babelsberg. As a sound engineer and recording producer, he has also produced CDs and recordings with artists such as the Staatskapelle Weimar, the RIAS Kammerchor, the Dresden Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir, Ensemble Resonanz and other artists from jazz, rock and pop.
Michael Jaeckel was awarded the Tonmeister Prize from the Association of German Tonmeisters.
Since 2008, Jaeckel is a lecturer at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences for audio engineering and media engineering. He lives with his wife and two children near Lüneburg.


Tim Altrichter

Born in Saxony-Anhalt at the time of the reunification,

he grew up in Eberswalde and studied at the College of Film and Television in Babelsberg, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts "Sound" (2010-1014) degree. He has worked as a freelance sound engineer since 2008 at various events, TV and film productions. In 2014 he began working for PARRY AUDIO with the planning and rebuilding of the studio, and then in 2015 with the rebuilding of the mobile recording van.


Eberhard Schnellen

* 1952 in Dortmund
Eberhard Schnellen started his studies for Music Education at Hochschule für Musik, Cologne and continued at the Berlin Hochschule der Künste (University of Art) finishing with the degree in sound engineering (Diplom-Tonmeister). In 1979 he began working as a sound engineer for pop music at Polygram. In 1987 he founded ES-DUR Tonstudio in Hamburg-Ottensen.

After the transfer of the studio in 2013 he continues to work as a freelance balance engineer for music and word productions.


Christian Alpen

*1975 in Hamburg

Christian Alpen studied sound engineering (Diplom Tonmeister) at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold.
Previously, he had successfully completed his training as a media designer for sound and image at the Norddeutsche Rundfunk.
In addition to the production of music, the artistic production of spoken word (radio play, feature) and sound design form his focus. Further applications of his abilities as a sound engineer are in the OB Van and in the studio with live broadcasts and recordings, as well as with live events for theater and opera.


Roman Vehlken

Roman Vehlken studied at HAW Hamburg Media Technology focused on AV production. After completing his degree Diplom Ingenieur in 2005, he works mainly in postproduction and image-accompanying sound, also as technical manager of the Internationale KurzFilmFestival Hamburg and as sound engineer at the NDR radio station. His work ranges from set-tone to audio dubbing and audio design, from studio recording to editing and creative editing to the final mix. Since 2007 he has worked as a free lance sound engineer and technician at ES-DUR Tonstudio, now PARRY AUDIO.


Rouven Öttjes

Born and grown up in Hamburg, Rouven works as a technician and engineer.  With a long time experience he takes care of recordings and music productions within rock, pop and classical music for the NDR Radio station (amongst others) and for PARRY AUDIO.


Sebastian Bonney

*1977 in Mainz
Sebastian Bonney first completed his studies at the Lübeck Music Academy to become a certified music teacher (piano).
In 2009 he completed his second degree at the Robert Schumann University of Music and University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf as Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Audio and Video Engineering.
He worked as a technician for broadcast sound at ZDF Düsseldorf, as a sound engineer for publications at Universal Music, Sony, Warner Music and Genuin and as a sound engineer at the Hessian State Theatre in Wiesbaden and at WDR Radio (outside broadcast).
Since 2019 Bonney has been working as a freelance sound engineer for NDR Radio and PARRY AUDIO.
